  • July 4 – July 31, 2022

The instruction of this 200 hour registered hot yoga teacher training will be completely in ENGLISH, it is important you understand English and can communicate in that language.  However you can ask for a manual in Spanish as well and do your written and practical exams in Spanish.  Our teachers are bilingual and can answer questions in both languages.  It is important to note that everything will be taught in the English language.  If you are interested in a course in Spanish please see the other courses we have on offer.

There are 6 experienced teachers on this course. Each instructor is an expert in their field and you will get a broad spectrum of styles and types of yoga on this training. Hot Yoga Academy believes yoga is for every body type and every person, you will learn how to teach to all these groups of people.

Every day during the training, you will start with a hot vinyasa asana practice with pranayama breathing for about 1.5 – 2 hours. This would also sometimes include meditation, after which you will have a very short break. From there, you will either go into alignment or theory (philosophy, chakras, Ayurveda, adjustments, anatomy, learning to sequence, etc.).

The first 2 weeks are more on theory and practicing different types of yoga-like yin and restorative. The final 2 weeks of the training are more on practice teaching where you learn how to sequence Vinyasa classes, practice teaching with blocks, straps, and blankets, learn how to adjust students, how to deal with injuries and variations of postures, as well as prenatal and acro yoga.

When time allows Heather also covers yoga for sports athletes and Lezanne and Morgan discuss Yoga as therapy when discussing health concerns. There are generally 6 teachers on each course with Lezanne and Heather providing a real yin and yang approach to teaching Yoga. Lezanne is often called Mother Earth, her knowledge in philosophy and biomechanics and pretty much any topic of yoga is astounding. While Heather provides the more practical, business side of teaching yoga as her background before yoga was in sales and marketing. Heather is also a yoga business coach so any questions regarding your future careers she will be happy to help in any way she can.

There are 2 tests. The first is a written theory test. The 2nd is a 60 – 75-minute test where you teach and create your own hot vinyasa sequence, adjusting students and using props. You will have an opportunity to practice teach your 60min sequence before the final exam.

Heather Anderson began practicing hot yoga in Toronto, Canada 20 years ago. After going to her first class she was hooked on the way her body and mind felt. Over the years she became involved with a yoga clothing line called yogagurl and started helping the founder promote, sell and market the products. The love of the Spanish language brought Heather to Spain in 2006.  After several stressful years in sales in a crisis market, Heather decided to follow one of her lifelong dreams to become a certified yoga instructor. Heather has been lucky to have been trained under Baron Baptiste (Baptiste Power Hot Yoga), Ted Grand (Moksha Hot Yoga), Bikram Yoga, Rodney Yee, Alex Leikermoser a.k.a. yogagurl and the Tribe yoga instructors, Scarlett and Raquel. Heather is certified in teaching vinyasa, prenatal yoga and yoga for sport.  Over the years due to injuries through various sports, she stresses taking care of your joints and not pushing yourself too hard in her teachings. She is very interested in Yoga Therapy and she is looking forward to completing a Yoga for Cancer Course in Sept 2018 and a Yoga Nidra Course with Rod Stryker in Nov 2018

Lezanne – Senior Course Instructor
Lezanne first discovered the benefits of Yoga in a small Iyengar Yoga studio in Cape Town, South Africa, in 1998. Practising at first to alleviate chronic upper back pain, Yoga soon revealed itself as a holistic system which became beneficial on many different levels. Over the years that followed, she has migrated from Iyengar to a path of exploring Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. She has ultimately realised that Yoga is a life-long journey, teaching us to live a fuller, more joyful and present life. Your own body becomes your best teacher. Lezanne is a certified Yoga teacher (RYT 500) through Yoga Arts, Australia and has been teaching since 2009. In 2014, whilst pregnant with her twin babies, she completed her Prenatal Yoga certification through SansYoga. Her style of teaching encourages her students to mindfully explore their asana practice from a place of joy and fun, all the while drawing on the rich philosophical foundations of yoga. More info about Lezanne
